The International Maritime Organization is integrate by committees such as:

Maritime Safety Committee.
Marine Environment Protection Committee.
Legal Committee.

This committees take new initiatives for the safety of vessels such as SOLAS, MARPOL, ITC, etc., which are approved by member countries to be apply to their vessels for ship security and safety, and protection of goods, the human life and the environment. Each vessel is certified that are applied according to their tonnage, these certifications are calls “statutory” and are issued by Recognized Organizations (OR) as is Horizon International Naval Surveying & Inspection Bureau.

We (HINSIB) have technical staff at Headquarters as well as a network of inspectors around the world who are familiar with conventions and international codes that apply to your vessel.
